Terms of Service

Version 2026-08-14

1. Your agreement with StoryBloom

By creating or using an account, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Rules. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Free and noncommercial community

StoryBloom is currently operated as a free, noncommercial community for fanfiction readers and writers. StoryBloom does not charge users to read or publish fanworks, does not sell access to hosted fanworks, and the current release does not operate a third-party advertising network. This describes StoryBloom's current operating model; it is not a representation that StoryBloom is incorporated as a nonprofit organization, recognized as tax-exempt, or recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

3. Age and account eligibility

StoryBloom is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 to create an account. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age for you to consent to online services or data processing, you must meet that requirement or have any legally required authorization.

4. Account security

Provide accurate registration information, keep your password and recovery access secure, and do not share an account in a way that defeats moderation or security controls. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless you promptly report unauthorized access.

5. Your content and the license needed to operate StoryBloom

You retain the rights you hold in stories, chapters, comments, profile material, covers, and other content you submit. You give the StoryBloom operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, make technical and backup copies, format, display, and deliver that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, and provide the StoryBloom features you choose. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to StoryBloom and does not give StoryBloom permission to sell your fanworks as its own product.

6. Fanworks and copyright

StoryBloom is designed for fanfiction and other transformative or original writing, but the platform cannot determine whether every individual use of copyrighted material is lawful or qualifies as fair use. Noncommercial use can be relevant to a fair-use analysis, but it does not automatically make a work lawful. Users remain responsible for what they post and should not present fanworks as official or endorsed by the underlying rights holder.

7. No paywalling fanworks through StoryBloom

StoryBloom's current service does not provide tools for selling, renting, licensing, or paywalling access to fanfiction. Do not use StoryBloom's publishing, messaging, comments, or community tools to evade this noncommercial model by requiring payment in exchange for access to a work hosted on StoryBloom.

8. Deletion and exports

StoryBloom provides export and deletion controls for supported content. When you permanently delete content, the public/service copy is removed according to the product's deletion behavior. Limited copies or records may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, moderation records, or legal-compliance records where reasonably necessary.

9. Prohibited conduct

You may not use StoryBloom for harassment, threats, stalking, impersonation, privacy violations, spam, engagement manipulation, malicious automation, infringement, plagiarism, fraud, unlawful activity, pornographic or explicitly sexual content involving anyone under 18, or interference with the service or another user's access. The Underage warning does not override this rule. Reported violations may be reviewed by moderators.

10. Moderation

StoryBloom may remove or limit content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce policies, protect users or the service, respond to legal obligations, or address security risks. Eligible moderation decisions may be appealed using StoryBloom's appeal tools.

11. Copyright complaints

Copyright complaints are handled under the Copyright & DMCA page. StoryBloom may remove or disable access to material in response to a legally sufficient notice and maintains a policy for addressing repeat infringement.

12. Service availability and changes

StoryBloom may change features, perform maintenance, or experience interruptions. The service is provided on an “as available” basis. Writers should keep independent backups of important work. If StoryBloom's operating or funding model materially changes, the policies should be updated before new monetization is introduced.
